With numerous festivals and gatherings taking place this summer and fall, the City of Paducah is reminding event organizers and mobile food vendors about the City's existing ordinance governing food trucks, also known as mobile food vehicle vendors.
All food truck vendors must obtain a Fire Prevention safety inspection permit and comply with all applicable business license and health department requirements.
Mobile food vehicle vendors operating outside a City-permitted special event also must obtain an annual Mobile Food Vehicle Permit as outlined in Section 126-87 of Paducah’s Code of Ordinances. This permit must be renewed annually and ensures compliance with the City’s ordinance regarding approved operating locations and hours, zoning requirements, property owner permission for private property, and regulations regarding traffic, sidewalks, sanitation, and noise.
Mobile Food Permit Application (required if not part of a city-permitted event)
To begin the Mobile Food Vehicle Permit process, vendors must submit an application to the Paducah Planning Department. The Department will verify that the proposed operating location is in an approved zoning district or permitted location. The permit process also includes the following requirements:
- Obtain a City of Paducah business license through the Finance Department.
- Obtain a safety inspection permit from the Paducah Fire Prevention Division.
- Provide proof of $2 million in liability insurance naming the City of Paducah as an additional insured.
- Provide written permission from the property owner where the mobile food vehicle will operate.
- Obtain a permit from the Purchase District Health Department if selling food or beverages that are not pre-packaged.
